Testimonies

What would you do to receive the Word of God?

What would you give to own a Bible?

The first two of 64 students to receive Bibles. Students from grade 2 to grade 6 memorized 16 verses from the Gospel of John and received their own Bible.

Shamillah was raised in a Muslim home with her parents and four sisters. When she and her sisters started attending the Christian school, they accepted Jesus into their lives. They returned home during school break and shared the Gospel with their parents. Shamillah's mother also received the gift of salvation. Coming back to the Christian school, Shamillah participated in the Bible memorizing program to receive her first Bible! She is the first person in her family to own a Bible!

Betty and Eddie are siblings living with a pastor in our village. When their family changed from Muslim to Christian, they lost everything. Their grandfather was Muslim and a witch doctor having 12 wives and 104 kids, all of whom are Muslim. Betty and Eddie's family are the first to become Christians. Betty and Eddie are very smart and always raise their hands to answer questions in Children's Church. They love to lead worship and choirs.

Kevin stayed behind after I handed out the Bibles to say "Thank you so much! I am so blessed! May God bless you!"

Rebecca overcame her stutter and said her Bible verses flawlessly!

Sarah's family are members of our church. They walk about three miles to come to church.

Anna's famiy is very poor. Her father left Anna's mom for another women. Anna's sister is a teen mom. I am so thankful Anna received a Bible so she can learn God's promises and grow closer to Him.

Beautiful smiles!

Helen started jumping and dancing when she received her Bible!

Seeing the joy of receiving God's Word inspires me to value the Bible more. Often times we take it for granted. How many Bibles do you have in your house? How often do you pick up one of those Bibles, sit in the presence of God and read the Bible? We often own more than one Bible and yet hardly spend time reading it. Most of us don't even bring a Bible to church anymore because the text is on the screen. Yet many Christians around the world long for for their own Bible, but are hindered from getting it due to government restrictions, the cost, a language barrier, illiteracy, or the danger of being caught with a Bible. There is over 7,000 different languages in the world today. Yet the full Bible has only been translated into 736 of those languages. The New Testament has been translated in 1,658 languages. How many tribes and people groups exist across the world with no Bible in their own language! We are blessed with such an abundant access to the Word of God that we have forgotten it is a blessing that much of the world lives without.
