Welcome to Ethiopia!
For those of you who don't know, I went on a mission trip to Ethiopia this summer to teach English at a couple of the local churches. Thank you to everyone who donated towards and prayed over this mission trip! God used your generosity and prayers to impact many lives and encourage Christians in Ethiopia! Here are some pictures from my time in Ethiopia:
The view from the mission center we stayed at. We served in a village surrounded by mountains outside of Addis Ababa.
Activities with the students! We had four teachers; I taught about 50 students from 9 years old up to adults. We went through simple grammar, practicing both writing and speaking. We played lots of games that emphasized different vocabulary.
Sights from the village.
Shepherd
One of the village mosques.
A couple of neighbor boys.
A Muslim lady that lived next door to the mission station.
Just a girl and her chickens
Lots of good Ethiopian food. The yellow drink in this picture was a honey juice that is known as the king's drink.
Learning how to make ingera - the staple food in Ethiopia. It takes a lot practice to achieve a perfect circle of ingera that is not too thick.
It rained A LOT in Ethiopia! Our power was on and off all week.
Ethiopians love their coffee time which happens 3 - 6 times a day! We learned how to make it the traditional way when the power was out.
Lots of horses in Ethiopia!
The Bible in the local language in Ethiopia - Amharic. For those of you that bought a t-shirt during my fundraising, Amharic is one of the languages on the shirt.

I had no idea you were in such a primitive area! I thought you were in a big city. This revealed a lot. You girls are so brave!
